Anti-Alito Movement January 9 marks the first day of confirmation hearings for ultra-conservative judge Samuel Alito, George W. Bush's latest nominee for the Supreme Court of the United States. Alito has a long record of nearly insane interpretations of the law, finding against abortion, workers' rights, machine gun bans, environmental regulations, but in favor of strip searches of children and unchecked presidential power. While the law says that anyone with the proper credentials can be nominated to the Supreme Court, why should we accept the nomination of someone who will clearly send this country in the wrong direction? Many activists are refusing to do so, and are calling on their elected representatives to oppose Alito. How to get involved:
