Today a fourth grade student told me he wanted to write a poem about computers. I thought he was going to produce something about mindnumbing computer games or instant messenger... instead, this is what he brought to me:
"Soon computers turn robots into recruiters
and turn palm-pilots into sharp-shooters
Shooting-looters of beavers, rivers, rats
Shooting residents of natural habitats
And that's not all,
They even cause the trees to bawl.
So, computers are modern day looters
Controlling both cars and scooters
Turing us all into nature's polluters
And not into nature's sustainable suitors."
